This woman came to The Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery for a breast reduction. She had been experiencing a significant amount of back and shoulder pain due to her large breasts. She met with the plastic surgeon, Dr. Bivik Shah and together they discussed her options and were very decided upon a breast reduction. Dr. Bivik Shah is one of the very rare plastic surgeons in the country that can perform the type of breast reduction that this patient had which is called a passot technique. If you look through the other photos listed under breast reduction you’ll see that most patients have a scar that runs around the areola, straight down to the under crease of the breast, and lines the under crease of the breast – which looks like an anchor and is typically called an “anchor incision”. With the passot technique, there is no scar that runs from the areola to breast crease. The only incisions made are the one that goes around the areola, which typically heals wonderfully and is hard to detect, and the incision in the breast crease which is hidden under the breast. She had a total of 4 lbs removed from her breasts. The after photo was taken 5 months after surgery and her result will continue to improve and look their best over the next year.
