As winter begins to turn to spring, our thoughts turn to warmer weather and yes, even to summer. Summer means shorts and swimming suits. If you have noticed a sagging, flatness, or droop to your buttocks you may want to consider getting a butt lift before those summer months arrive.

A very popular type of butt lift surgery is the Brazilian Butt Lift. This also happens to be the most natural way to enhance the position, size, and contours of your buttocks. During this type of augmentation the doctor will be sculpting and enhancing your buttocks using your own fat.

Butt augmentation with implants works well for patients with little extra fat to spare. But if you have a little extra on your abdomen, thighs, “love handles” or your back, you could be a terrific candidate for the more natural, Brazilian Butt Lift (also called Fat Transfer) procedure.

A fat transfer is really more than one surgery being performed at the same time.

Here’s how the Brazilian Butt Lift (fat transfer) procedure works.

Once you have been prepped for surgery and the anesthesia has taken effect your doctor begins the procedure.

Liposuction is used to harvest (take) fat from the donor areas of your body; the waist, abdomen, thighs, or upper back – sometimes several of these areas will need to be addressed in order to harvest enough fat to give you the full and rounded buttocks you desire.

This fat is then purified and processed to remove anything other than pure fat cells.

Your plastic surgeon will take these purified fat cells and inject them in a precise and carefully planned process into your buttock area. Based on the desires of the patients and the aesthetic sense of the doctor, this fat transfer will give the patient a full and attractive buttock that is soft to the touch and beautifully natural.

Recovery from a Brazilian Butt Augmentation procedure takes about 4 to 6 weeks. Depending on the kind of work they do, patients may return to work after about a week. However, sitting or other pressure on the buttocks is to be avoided for three weeks, to prevent damage to the transferred cells. It is recommended that patients wait until after the full recovery period to resume exercise.

You will need to wear a support garment for 4-6 weeks to compress the donor areas.

Frequently we get asked how long the results of a Brazilian Butt Lift will last and will there be changes to the size and shape of the patient’s behind as time goes by.

When done right, a large percentage of the transferred fat cells survive. However, some will not. This is why a plastic surgeon will inject an excess of these cells into the butt area. An experienced cosmetic surgeon knows how much extra fat to inject, having a good estimation of how many will survive over the following weeks.

Once the transfer has stabilized, the fat that remains will stay there for the rest of your life. The transferred fat is your own and will respond the same as any other fat on your body does. When your weight fluctuates, this fat will fluctuate as well, while maintaining your wonderfully enhanced shape.

A successful fat transfer surgery (Brazilian Lift) results in a new, fuller, and shapelier buttock that will last the rest of your life.
