Getting the Best Rejuvenating Breast Lift

A woman’s breasts begin to stretch and sag over the course of time. This loss of youthful shape and firmness can be corrected with a plastic surgery procedure known as a mastopexy or simply, a breast lift.

Many factors, including age, can contribute to the loss of skin elasticity, breast lift and fullness. Some of these are:

  • Heredity – The transmission of physical characteristics passed on from parent to child has a huge bearing on everything from basic body type to how we age. A woman who’s mother and grandmother had breasts that tended to droop and sag earlier in life, is likely to have inherited that tendency in her own breasts.
  • Gravity – That constant pull on our bodies, which keeps us connected with the earth, takes its toll, causing our features to be tugged downwards over time.
  • Aging – In addition to the force of gravity, the simple fact of getting older will occasion a loss of elasticity in the skin and volume in the breasts, creating that stretched and drooping appearance.
  • Weight fluctuations – We gain weight and lose weight over the years. This could be from pregnancy, aging or diet. These fluctuations cause women to gain and lose weight in their breasts as well. Sometimes this can result in saggier breasts.
  • Pregnancy – A woman’s body goes through significant changes during pregnancy. Breasts become larger as they prepare to breastfeed the newborn child. These changes can ultimately contribute to droopy breasts and the need for a breast lift.
  • Breastfeeding – Another source of breast size fluctuation and “wear” is breastfeeding.

A breast lift is done on an outpatient basis, under general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately 2 to 3 hours.

Surgery consists of removing excess skin from the bottom of the breast and around the areola. The skin is tightened as the position of the nipple and areola are elevated to a more youthful position. Average recovery time for a breast lift is 3-4 weeks.

Whatever the reason, when a woman becomes dissatisfied with how her breasts look, the droop of the skin, and their position on her chest, she may want to investigate the possibility of giving those breasts a little lift and a more youthful perkier appearance.

Since a breast lift is just that, a lift, it will not significantly increase the size of a woman’s breasts. This is why many women decide to have an augmentation done at the same time.

When you come in for your consultation with our top plastic surgeon, one of the things he will go over with you is your ultimate desire for the size and shape or your breasts.
