Tired of having a saggy butt? A flat butt? Or no butt at all? Then a butt augmentation may be the right thing for you.
Let’s face it, some people have perfect behinds; they were just born that way. However, others have butts that were never full and rounded or ones that have sagged or drooped over time. The good news is that there is a procedure that can enhance and lift any buttocks, giving the person a full, rounded, and younger-looking butt. This procedure is called a gluteoplasty or butt augmentation.
The word gluteoplasty is taken from the Greek meaning, “to shape the rump”, which is exactly what a plastic surgeon is doing during this procedure.
When you go in for your consultation, your surgeon will explain the basic butt augmentation procedures and guide you in the selection of the one that’s best for you.
A buttocks augmentation can be done either of two ways. One way is with the use of silicone implants positioned during surgery to increase the size and alter the shape and position of the butt. The other surgery is known as a “fat transfer” or “Brazilian Butt Lift”. In this procedure the surgeon suctions fat from one part of the body, processes it and injects it into the gluteus region – the butt, thus creating a perkier, more sensual appearance.
Which procedure you and your surgeon decide upon will depend upon various factors. If you are quite slender with no excess fat or have poorly defined buttocks, then the implant augmentation would more than likely be the correct choice for you. If your buttocks are sagging after a large weight loss, then fat transfer or fat transfer in combination with implants may be the most effective.
Here are the steps your surgeon will take for each procedure:
Buttocks Implant Procedure:
The surgeon makes small incisions in the buttocks region, hidden inside the natural buttock crease.
He or she then places a soft, correctly sized and shaped silicone implant into the gluteus below the muscle and above the pelvic bone.
The incisions are closed with sutures.
A compression garment in placed over the area. This garment is worn following surgery in order to reduce swelling and protect the surgery site.
Brazilian Butt Lift (Fat Transfer)
First liposuction is used to take fat from parts of the body where excess fatty tissue is stored, such as the hips, upper back, abdomen or thighs.
The fat is processed for re-injection.
Once now processed fat is transferred to the buttock area by injection using a fine tube called a cannula.
The fat is grafted in multiple layers to ensure a smooth deposit of the fatty tissue and placed precisely for proper augmentation and shaping.
The surgeon will have made a very small incision to be used when injecting the processes fat. These incisions are very small and easily hidden by clothing.
The incisions are closed with sutures.
A compression garment in placed over the area. This garment is worn following surgery in order to reduce swelling and protect the surgery site.
Whichever of these procedures you have received there will be a short recovery period and most patients are able to return to work and normal activities after about two weeks.
Providing you have chosen an experienced, Board Certified plastic surgeon your results will be both permanent and beautiful.
