Choosing A Plastic Surgeon

Are you seeing the best plastic surgeon?

Choosing the best plastic surgeon for your cosmetic surgery needs, making sure your surgeon is trained in plastic surgery

You're worth the best Plastic Surgeon!

There is nothing more important then receive top care from a provider who is trained specifically for your plastic surgery procedure.  Even simple procedures like Botox and fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane.  Don't let marketing fool you!

Unfortunately, there are just too many providers ready to put you at higher risk for their own gain.  In Columbus and Dublin, Ohio, there are emergency room doctors, gynecologists, internal medicine, and even dentist performing plastic surgery.  As the saying goes, you wouldn't call a plumber to fix your car, would you?

When my family asks me how to find a good doctor, I tell them two most important aspects of a top plastic surgeon are experience and training.

You want someone who does that procedure all the time (The Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery is one of the busiest and best plastic Surgery offices in Columbus and Dublin, Ohio).

You want someone who spent years training specifically for that procedure, not just a weekend or a couple of weeks.

How do you find out if the person you are seeing does that procedure all the time – ask them for lots of before and after pictures – not just one or two.  Make sure they are their patients they are showing you and not given to them by a company.  Many websites or office will show you just one or two pictures or sometimes they are not even their patients!  Just walk away!

Find out about their training – ask the following questions to find out how the learned to do that procedure:

  • In what specialty was their residency – if it's not in plastic surgery then there's a problem
  • Did they learn the procedure you're interested in during their residency – if they didn't then they probably learned it over a weekend course!
  • Are they board certified in Plastic Surgery – every doctor is board certified in something, but you only want the ones that are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, or the American Osteopathic Board of Plastic Surgery.

It is important to everyone at the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery that you get great, safe plastic surgery.   That is why, even if you choose one of the other wonderful plastic surgeons in the area, we would be happy to find out for you if the person you are considering for your plastic and cosmetic services, is a real plastic surgeon – just email us at office@instituteplasticsurgery, or call us at 614.322.2500
