HOW DOES RADIESSE WORK?
After cleansing and numbing the skin with a topical cream, the affected areas of the face can be comfortably treated with Radiesse. Typically, the wrinkles and folds around the mouth and cheeks are most commonly treated.  Local anesthetic is added to the filler itself for further comfort during treatment. Your unique facial anatomy and findings are evaluated.  The filler is carefully injected by Dr. Shah beneath the skin to immediately correct the wrinkles and folds around the mouth and to naturally lift the volume depleted tissues of the face.  This outcome can last for up to a year or more depending on the area injected and the volume of filler utilized.  Aside from minimal swelling and a numb feeling, most patients can return to normal activities immediately after treatment.
WHAT ARE THE SIDE EFFECTS OF RADIESSE?
The side effects of Radiesse are usually minor and short-lived in nature.  Injection site bruising, swelling, redness, and itching are the most commonly reported side effects.  In order to minimize side effects, be sure to stop using aspirin or aspirin containing products, vitamin E, or herbal supplements that can cause bleeding and bruising.  If you have a history of cold sores, tell us so that we can put you on medication to prevent a break out.  If you have a current facial infection, call to reschedule your appointment.  Radiesse contains calcium, so the filler may be visible of facial x-rays taken for other medical reasons, so be sure to tell your doctor that you have received Radiesse injections.
HOW LONG DOES RADIESSE LAST?
Radiesse has been shown to last for up to a year or more depending on the area injected, the amount of filler used and the patient. Because Radiesse comes in larger syringes with up to 50% more product per syringe compared to other fillers, you may get a more complete correction per syringe of filler injected.  This difference in volume may account for the apparently longer lasting results when compared to other fillers.
