This patient came to the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery after having extreme weight loss. As a result of her weight loss, she had quite a bit of excess skin and tissue that dwelled all around her abdomen and back. She met with the board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Bivik Shah to discuss how to rid her excess skin and tissue. They discussed a procedure called a BELT Lipectomy. This is when the incision runs all along the patient’s waist line (just like a belt)! This procedure involves removal of the tissue from the back – which produces several wonderful results! It rids the love handles (flanks) giving the patient a nice hourglass shape from behind. It also rids any excess skin and tissue causing upper back rolls. This also lifts the buttocks! Then, the patient’s incision is continues to the front side. The excess skin and tissue from the front is removed completely to give a nice smooth appearance to the abdomen. Also, the abdominal muscles are tightened which will give a real nice defined look to the belly. This lady had a total of 12.79lbs removed from her waist! The after photos here were taken a year and two months after surgery.
