“I ONLY WANT THE HUMP ON MY NOSE REMOVED!”
Many people have a small bump on their nose and wonder about receiving a rhinoplasty. Here at the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery, top plastic surgeon Bivik Shah, M.D. offers a few options:
- The quickest and simplest solution is to have a non-surgical rhinoplasty. This involves injecting filler (like Restylane or Juvederm) above and below the bump to smooth it out. This essentially fills in the empty spaces on the nose to even out its surface. A non-surgical nose job, also known as a liquid rhinoplasty, is temporary and typically lasts about 9-12 months.
- A permanent solution is to receive a minor surgical procedure to remove the hump. The procedure is called a closed rhinoplasty, in which there are no incisions made on the outside of the nose; just a few on this inside. It takes only one hour, and has a much shorter recovery time than that of an open rhinoplasty.
- If you would like only a minor change to your nose with nose job surgery or rhinoplasty, then at the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery, you would only need to have a minor procedure that can often be performed with you awake (if you want), like at a dentist office. The minor nose or rhinoplasty surgery would have a much shorter recovery time. Like all plastic surgery, the plastic surgeons at the Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery will do the least amount of surgery in the safest manner possible to try to give you exactly what you want.
