Not happy with the shape and size of your butt? Wish you had more of an hourglass figure? You’re not alone! Lucky for you, this is achievable through a buttocks augmentation. Butt implants can help reshape your butt and give it a fuller appearance.
The procedure is like a breast augmentation, except that the silicone implants are different. While breast implants are filled with silicone gel, buttocks implants are solid silicone. These implants are placed either over your gluteal muscles to enhance the shape and size of your rear end.
If you want, you may even have it performed alongside a liposuction or thigh lift for a more holistic effect.
Are You a Good Candidate?
You may be a good candidate for buttocks augmentation if:
-
- You want your butt to be rounder in shape but do not possess extra fat for a Brazilian butt lift: Butt implants are great for people who don’t have much excess fat but still want their rear end to have a fuller appearance.
- You’re committed to being healthy: Sure, your implants will give you a firmer and more rounded buttocks, but it’s on you to maintain this appearance with diet and exercise.
- You don’t smoke: Just like with all other surgeries, smoking interferes with post-surgical healing. If you do smoke, be sure to quit six weeks prior to the surgery for a smoother recovery.
The Buttocks-Augmentation Procedure
Buttocks augmentation is usually performed on an outpatient basis. It can take up to several hours to be completed. The doctor will administer anesthesia to minimize any discomfort that you may feel during the surgery.
We will then proceed to make an incision along the natural crease of your butt cheek and insert the implants above your gluteal muscles. After this, your incisions will be closed and bandaged.
Small tubes will be inserted to drain out any excess fluids that may have built up as part of the procedure. You will need to wear compression garments after the procedure to ensure optimal results and control post-surgical swelling.
The Recovery Process
After the procedure, you are shifted to a recovery area where you will be monitored and then cleared to go home. It is recommended that you arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home and stay with you overnight.
To ensure optimal results, you won’t be allowed to sit on your butt for a minimum of 10 days after your surgery. This helps avoid excess pressure on the area, which allows the incisions to heal correctly.
Both walking and sitting will be extremely uncomfortable immediately after the procedure. They will be comfortable again in a matter of weeks.
Your surgical drains will remain on you for a couple weeks before the doctor takes them off. Pain, bruising, and swelling may occur but will soon subside. In a matter of months, you will be able to enjoy the new appearance of your butt!
