This woman came to The Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery at 38 year old. She had gastric bypass surgery 3 years prior and as a result she was left with excess skin and fat around her body. Her main area of concern was her abdomen. She was unhappy with the sagging skin and it was difficult for her to find clothes to fit properly. She met with the plastic surgeon, Dr. Bivik Shah and together they decided on a panniculectomy with the removal of 13.5lbs. This is when the excess skin that hangs down over your panty line is removed. This procedure does not involve any extra muscle tightening as an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) does; however, this particular patient decided that she would like to have the muscle tightening done at this time. The after photo was taken 4 months after the surgery. The scar is healing wonderfully, however, over the next 8-14 months the scar will get to looking the absolute best that it possibly can.
