This 35 year old woman had come to The Columbus Institute of Plastic Surgery. She had a significant amount of excess skin and fat hanging from her abdomen and around her sides. She met with the board certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Bivik Shah, and he discussed with her the benefits she would find with a “Fleur de Leis Tummy Tuck” (abdominoplasty). This procedure differs from a standard tummy tuck because here there is an incision made vertically at the midline of the abdomen as well as horizontally across the panty line. The benefits of having this vertical incision are that the abdomen is not only pulled down tight and smooth (as a standard tummy tuck), but also side to side. Therefore, the excess skin and fat that is around the patients sides is pulled tight as well. Overall, this patient has 4.32lbs of excess weight removed specifically from her abdomen. The after photo here was taken 3 months after surgery. As with any plastic surgery procedure, the scar will continue to heal over the next year and a half before it looks its absolute best!
